What are Dental Implants? Dental implants are a popular way of doing this, as they offer all the benefits of a regular tooth.

The reasons why people attend the dentists in Dublin can vary. Some may be looking for a generic check-up, while others may be searching for a solution that helps them replace lost teeth. This can make people feel more confident, as well as giving them more control when using their teeth.

They vary to other solutions in that that they are permanent, so are much different to other dental solutions such as dentures.

What Are Dental Implants & What Are They Made From?

In general, dental implants will be made from titanium and will have an internal screw that will help bond the teeth to the bone. In time, the bone will grow what are dental implants - Different Typesaround the tooth to offer more security, giving the illusion of a healthy tooth or set of teeth.

There are several kinds of dental implants, and the ones you have can depend on the condition of the teeth and whether another approach is more suitable. Therefore, it’s important to ensure that you only speak to a dental professional in relation to dental implants.

What Is Dental Implant Procedure?

Initially, the dentist will assess and record what areas of the mouth will benefit from dental implants. Once discussions have been had, the dentist will then look to place the implant within the jaw and attach the abutment.

The fusion between the bone and the implant can take anything from three weeks to six months. In some instances, you may be given temporary implants until the fusion takes place. Again, this is something our dentists will discuss with you in advance.

Who Can Have Dental Implants?

If you’re in good health, then it’s likely there will be no obstacles to face when planning to fit implants, but there could be instances where implants aren’t possible, including the following:

  • If you’re a heavy smoker.
  • Have had radiotherapy around the jaw area.
  • Suffer from gum disease.
  • Have uncontrolled diabetes.

As every case is unique, those looking for implants should be dissuaded from speaking to their dentist about implants but are factors worth considering when looking at the options available.

IV Sedation

In order to make the procedure pleasant and pain-free, we offer IV sedation to make you feel relaxed during the treatment. IV sedation is another form of dental sedation dublinsedation that allows you to be awake for the procedure, albeit significantly more relaxed. Unlike nitrous oxide, those who opt for the IV sedation will not be able to drive home afterwards.
